Hotels, apartment complexes, bed and breakfasts, taverns, and the like. Some historic, some modern but all prone to ghostly guests.

Local folklore is filled with tales of haunted inns and taverns. Whispered stories of murders and suicides help to understand the strange events reported by visitors and guests. Apparitions appear from out of nowhere; voices are heard in darkened corridors; and guests answer the midnight knocking on their room door only to find the hall empty.

The good news is that most businesses of this nature do not mind being associated with the paranormal. Many will even use the fact they are haunted as an advertising gimmick, especially during the Halloween season. Because of this, hotels and the like are more apt to allow an investigation to take place. But, be careful! Since allegations of paranormal phenomena can be used to lure in more business, some less-than-ethical establishments may have ulterior motives in mind when they allow you access. Always be on the lookout for fraud!
