The Haunting of Bloody Bridge

Bloody Bridge isn’t just the site of an allegedly historical tragedy; it’s also believed to be a hotspot for paranormal activity.
For decades, visitors have reported eerie experiences while visiting the bridge at night. Some claim to have seen a headless figure wandering around on the bridge. It’s believed to be the ghost of Jack Billings, searching for his lost love – or his missing head.
Others have claimed to hear disembodied voices, screams, and, sometimes, the crying of a baby.
In 1854, two young lovers, Jack Billings and Minnie Warren, met their fate on this bridge. On a clear summer night, Bill Jones, a rival of Jack’s, succumbed to his rage and jealousy, and severed Jack’s head from his body with the single blow of an ax. Minnie, in her attempt to flee the attack, lost her footing and stumbled over the side of the bridge to the waters below.
Legend says Minnie Warren was pregnant at the time of her death, and her unborn child’s spirit lingers. During full moons in June, some say Minnie’s face will appear in the reflection of the canal’s dark waters.
Despite the lack of definitive evidence of a haunting, the stories surrounding Bloody Bridge persist, drawing ghosthunters and curious visitors alike.
Whether these phenomena are supernatural or the result of active imaginations, they continue to contribute to the bridge’s mystique and the enduring allure of its legend.
